NPO Description:

The Food Bank of Northern Indiana works in six counties gleaning food from manufacturers, retailers and individuals to distribute through member agencies.

Why should we win?

Since 1993, the Food Bank of Northern Indiana has worked in partnership to feed the hungry, increase awareness of the effects of hunger and to lead to programs designed to alleviate hunger in the six counties it serves. Our region’s economy slowly continues to recover from the economic downturn and our 185 member agencies have seen an 57% increase in the amount of households they’ve served for the first six months of 2011 compared to the same period of time in 2010. Hunger is very real in northern Indiana - 18.4% of the population deals with hunger insecurity.

Helping feed the hungry is a humbling experience but not as humbling as for those who realize they no longer can feed their families or themselves. Asking for food takes a tremendous amount of courage.

We need an identity for who we are and what services we provide in the communities we serve. We are not a food pantry – we are a distribution facility – gleaning millions of pounds of food we collect from manufacturers, retailers, businesses and individuals to distribute to our member agencies in northern Indiana.

Our organization is evolving and needs a distinctive brand to “shout out” what we really matters - because it does.
