NPO Description:
AARC provides alcohol and other drug prevention, education, information, referral, intervention and advocacy services to individuasl and families.
Why should we win?
Called the Alcoholism Council for 25 years, we changed our name to the Alcohol & Addictions Resource Center in 1995 to better reflect our services and our mission. However, no money was available to brand our agency and we went from an agency that was "misunderstood" to an agency that was even "more misunderstood."
We are located next door to Alcoholic Anonymous (AA), the sign in our front yard reads AARC and a local treatment center dropped Michiana from their name and are now called ARC. People get us mixed up with AA and ARC. And even without AA and ARC to confuse the public, no one seems to know what AARC does for the community. We have no budget for community awareness and desperately need the public to better understand what we do. Next year we will be 50 years old - no small feat for a not for profit. I can think of no better way for us to celebrate our longeity than to have a professional branding and awareness campaign that lets people know recovery from the chronic health problem of alcoholism and drug addiction is possible.
